Signs Your ViewLux Window Installation Is Failing
- The window is hard to open, or drops when you let go. The coil balance or spring assembly has lost tension. In a ViewLux single-hung, the spring is hidden inside the side jamb; in a roller window, the rollers have flattened on one side. Both get worse each time you force the window. Forcing it is how a roller seizes and a crank gear strips.
- You hear a grinding or clicking sound when operating the window. Grit has worked into the track or the roller bearings have failed. South Florida windows live in a mix of sand, salt air, and fine leaf debris. We clean and re-lubricate the track first. If the noise persists, the roller is done. The gear teeth on a casement crank will also click when one or two are broken, and that crank needs replacement, not patience.
- Condensation or haze between the glass panes. The insulating glass unit seal has failed. This is a ViewLux warranty matter on newer windows, but if the window is older than the coverage period, the sash or the full unit gets swapped. A failed seal in Plantation’s humidity is not cosmetic: the window loses its thermal properties, and the trapped moisture accelerates frame rot from the inside.
- Visible daylight or a draft around the sash. The weatherstripping has compressed or the window has shifted out of square. Run a dollar bill along the closed seal; if it slides freely, air is moving. On ViewLux frames the weatherstripping is channeled, and when it hardens, it shrinks. The fix is replacement stripping, but only if the sash is still square to the frame. If the window racked, the seal is the symptom, not the cause.
- Water stains on the interior sill or drywall below the window. Water is getting past the weep holes or under the sill flashing. Plantation’s late-afternoon thunderstorms will find a compromised weep system fast. The weep holes on ViewLux roller windows are small, and when they clog with pollen and dirt, water pools inside the track and works its way under the frame. If you see bubbling paint or soft drywall, the leak has been active for a while. That’s a call worth making sooner, not later.
