PGT Window Installation in Plantation: What to Know First

PGT window installation in Plantation typically runs $850 to $2,400 per opening depending on the series, size, and whether the frame can be salvaged. We are an independent PGT service provider, not a PGT subsidiary, and most installations finish in a single day. The honest posture on price is this: a PGT window set out of true will fight you for twenty years, so we charge for the time it takes to set it true, not for the time it takes to caulk it and leave.

Call (772) 577-2915

This page is for Plantation homeowners who already own PGT products or are buying them and want a crew that knows the difference between a WinGuard and a 2300 series off the top of their heads. If you’re holding a quote and want a second set of eyes on the numbers, call (772) 577-2915 and a real person answers.

How PGT Products Fail, and How We Fix Them

  • WinGuard casement crank assemblies binding at the gear housing. This shows up most on 2008 to 2014 WinGuard units in Plantation, where the constant salt air finds the die-cast gear teeth before the operator arms show any wear. The window will open fine for years, then bind hard enough that the crank handle folds. We replace the assembly with OEM gearboxes when the series is still in production, and the fix runs cleaner than forcing a newer operator into an older frame. Forcing it is what chews the spline.
  • Sash sag on older 400 series single hung units. The original shoe and balance assemblies lose tension unequally, so the sash drops a half inch on one side and the lock never lines up again. Many installers will tell you the whole window needs replacement. More often the sash is fine and the balance system needs replacing as a pair. We quote the balance replacement first and show you the wear on the removed part before we take a dollar for a new window.
  • Weep system clogs on fixed and picture windows. Plantation’s afternoon thunderstorms dump more water against a west-facing wall than most weep designs can clear if they’ve never been cleaned. On PGT fixed units, trapped water in the track frosts the sealant from underneath and creates the fogged-glass look homeowners mistake for a failed insulated glass unit. We clean the weep ports, check the sill dam corners, and reset the sealant line. If the glass itself is blown, we say so plainly.
  • Slider roller failures on 2300 and 2700 series sliding windows. The OEM rollers are serviceable enough when clean, but Plantation oak pollen and sand work into the track and grind them down to a flat spot. The window then drags on one end and the frame racks. We replace rollers with sealed stainless aftermarket parts in most cases, because the nylon OEM rollers will fail the same way again in this climate. The exception: if the track is already grooved, we tell you before the install because new rollers will not fix a scored track.
  • Awning window hinges pulling loose from the frame. On older PGT awning units the hinge screws back out of the vinyl under repeated wind load, and then the sash droops and binds at the top corner. We reset the hinges with stainless fasteners and, where the screw holes are wallowed out, we install a backing plate rather than upsizing the screw. Upsizing is the lazy fix and it splits the frame.

Our PGT Window Installation Process

  1. 1
The call. You reach a live person. We ask which PGT series you have, what the window is doing, and whether you know the original install date. That gives us the warranty picture before we send a truck.
  2. 2
The measure and the diagnostic. A uniformed, background-checked technician comes out, measures every opening twice, and inspects the frame, the sealant, and the hardware. On a PGT job, we check the corner welds and the weep system before we quote anything, because a window that looks fine from six feet can be failing at the sill.
  3. 3
Parts decision, in writing. We tell you which parts are OEM, which are aftermarket, and why. Some PGT series warrant OEM only for warranty preservation. Others work better with a sealed aftermarket part in this climate. You see the options on paper, side by side, with the duration of the manufacturer warranty stated for each path.
  4. 4
The work. We remove the old unit or the failed hardware, set the new window or sash, shim it until it’s square and level, and fasten it to code. No one leaves until the sash moves without binding in both directions.
  5. 5
The test and the paperwork. We operate every window through its full range, check the lock and the weather stripping, run water at the exterior sill to confirm the weeps drain, and then register both warranty layers in writing before the truck leaves the driveway. You get the durations, in writing.

What PGT Window Installation Costs in Plantation

Job Typical Range
PGT single hung install, standard size $850 to $1,400 per opening
PGT casement or awning install $950 to $1,700 per opening
PGT sliding window install $1,100 to $2,000 per opening
PGT fixed or picture window install $750 to $1,300 per opening
PGT bay or bow assembly install $2,800 to $4,500 per assembly

The price moves with the frame condition, the opening size, the floor level, and whether the old window is a retrofit flange or a block-frame set. Older Plantation homes with original single-glazed openings sometimes need masonry or stucco repair before the new unit seats correctly. We show you the line items and the flange condition before we start, and the price does not change once work begins. Call (772) 577-2915 for a free estimate.

Why Plantation Homeowners Call TruePane Windows & Doors for PGT Work

Dale Kessler grew up off Broward Boulevard near the old Plantation Fashion Mall, and he learned the trade at McFatter Technical College in Davie before spending two decades setting windows and doors across Broward County. He is the person who answers questions about Florida Product Approval paperwork, and he will not let a PGT window leave the shop without the paperwork registered. If it is not square, level, and in writing, it is not done.

Every PGT installation carries the Done Right Promise and The Keystone Standard: both manufacturer warranty layers registered in writing, durations stated, before our truck leaves your driveway. If something is not right, we come back and make it right. No paperwork fight, no fine print. We have served Plantation since 2008 through Dale’s family craft tradition, and the same live person answers the phone at (772) 577-2915 whether it’s Tuesday noon or Sunday night. We also install Andersen, Pella, CGI, and a dozen other lines, so when a PGT unit is not the right fit for your opening, we can show you alternatives on paper, side by side.

FAQs

Will my PGT warranty survive an independent installation? Yes, provided the installation follows PGT’s documented procedures and the parts used are appropriate for the series. As an independent PGT service provider, we follow the manufacturer’s installation guidelines exactly and register both warranty layers in writing before the truck leaves. Call (772) 577-2915 and we can check your specific product registration status.

How long does a PGT window installation take in Plantation? Most single-unit installations finish in one day, including removal, setting, sealing, and cleanup. A bay or bow assembly may run into a second day. We’ll tell you the schedule before work begins and the schedule holds.

Are PGT replacement parts still available for older series? Many are. WinGuard, 2300, 2700, and 400 series parts remain available, though some have moved from OEM to aftermarket as PGT updated their lines. We source OEM where the warranty requires it and sealed aftermarket parts where the OEM part is a known weak point in Plantation’s coastal air. We show you the difference before you spend anything.

Should I repair or replace my PGT windows? That depends on the frame condition, the glass integrity, and the age of the unit. A failed operator, balance, roller, or hinge is usually a repair. A compromised frame, a blown insulated unit on a 20-year-old window, or a bent corner weld usually points to replacement. We quote both options in writing and let you decide with the numbers in front of you. Call (772) 577-2915 for a free estimate.
